Longtime DRUUMM Activist Elected President

The Rev. Danielle Di Bona, a longtime leader of DRUUMM, minister and chaplain, was elected President of DRUUMM at GA 2008. Rev. Di Bona of Maine replaces Rev. Manish Mishra of Florida, who completed his two year term of service.

Rev. Di Bona has been active in anti-racism/multicultural affairs, womens issues, and community ministry efforts in Ohio, Massachusetts, and Maine where she currently lives with her partner Larry. She shares with us this brief biography:

The Rev. Danielle Di Bona is an ordained Unitarian Universalist community minister. She served as Anti-Racism Program Coordinator for the Faith In Action Department at the UUA. Before that, Danielle served as Chaplain for Hospice of Greater Brockton, Beacon Hospice, both in Massachusetts; and the Visiting Nurse Association Hospice of Cleveland Ohio. She was ministerial consultant for the Unitarian Universalist Church of Greater Canton, Ohio. Rev. Di Bona is a graduate of Smith College (Ada Comstock Scholar) and holds a Masters of Ministry from Ursuline College.

Rev. Di Bona has served as 1^st Vice President/President Elect and 2nd Vice President. In these capacities, she has moderated the DRUUMM Ministry Working Group. She is currently Vice President, Clerk, and Outreach Coordinator for the UU Womens Federation, and now chairs the UUWF’s Marjorie Bowens Wheatley Scholarship Fund. Rev. Di Bona is also a member of the UU Service Committee’s Ministerial Advisory Committee.

Rev. Di Bona is a Wampanoag Indian and has been active in Native American issues, especially those affecting children, such as the inappropriate use of Indian images as mascots in sports and the media. Danielle lives in Thomaston, Maine with her husband, Larry Beck, her three dogs Spenser Chagall, Poquita Maria, and Smitty Sue, and G.D. Lucky the cat. Danielle spends her spare time in the dog obedience and dog agility rings training and showing her Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, Spenser Chagall.
