Site Proposals Come Rolling In!
Filed Under Conferences | Leave a Comment
There are now six cities on the table, with DRUUMM members and allies from across the United States offering to host the 6th Annual Fall DRUUMM Conference. Invitations have come from San Diego (CA), Denver (CO), Flint (MI), Oakland (CA), the Borough of Queens (NY) and Washington, D.C.
Before a decision can be made, important data must be gathered to ensure the needs of the gathered DRUUMM community can be met. Important points to consider:
- Meeting capacity for 40-60 attendees
- Housing and shower facilities for 20+ youth
- A supportive and nearby second church for the Allies for Racial Equity (ARE) to meet concurrently
- Safe and economical housing options for adults; must be near to host church
- Willing and able local volunteers to coordinate airport transfers and food preparation
This may sound like a tall order, but folks have already stepped up to the plate. Stay tuned!
Update: 6/1/2007: Manish reports that San Diego would like to be considered for 2008 or 2009; this leaves five cities as possibilities.

Call for Fall Conference Site Proposals
Filed Under Requests, Conferences | 1 Comment
The following message is from DRUUMM President, Rev. Manish Mishra.
This is a second call from the DRUUMM Steering Committee for proposals of cities where our community might gather for its annual fall retreat, scheduled for the evening of November 8 through mid-morning Nov. 11, 2007.
Any/all proposals are welcome, but please note that in order for us to look seriously at a suggested possibility we need one or hopefully more DRUUMM individuals who can help coordinate the local arrangements. At present, we’re not geared up to realistically go to a city where that isn’t present.
If you are capable of being a local coordinator for the city you suggest, please note that in your proposal. If there are others who in addition might help, please let us know who you have in mind. (You need not be from/in the city you’re proposing, but would hopefully already have solid contacts to effectively work on local coordination.)
We currently have strong proposals for San Diego and Denver. Other proposals are solicited and welcome.
Thanks everyone, Manish Mishra, DRUUMM President.
